• Surgeries Performed: General surgeons perform a wide range of surgeries, including kidney, pancreas, and liver transplantation, trauma to the abdomen and thorax, and common emergencies like appendicitis and hernias.
• Care Provided: General surgeons provide preoperative, operative, and post-operative care to patients. They are also involved in diagnosis and may manage critically ill patients and trauma victims.
• Training: Training for general surgeons usually begins after completing a primary degree in medicine and lasts for at least five years.
